Xwejni Bay

Xwejni Bay is a tranquil, rocky cove on the northern coast of Gozo near Marsalforn. Clear waters, unusual rock formations, and the famous Xwejni Salt Pans make it particularly interesting for swimming, snorkeling, and coastal walks.

Xwejni Bay

Xwejni Bay is located on the northern coast of Gozo, just a few minutes from Marsalforn. The small cove is significantly quieter than the island's popular beach resorts and is characterized by a rocky coastal landscape.

The clear water is well-suited for swimming and snorkeling. The seabed consists mainly of rocks and pebbles, so water shoes are recommended. However, due to its open location, the sea can quickly become choppy with strong north winds.

Right next to the cove, the famous Xwejni Salt Pans begin. These centuries-old, checkerboard-patterned salt basins carved into the rock stretch along the coast and are among the most characteristic landscapes of Gozo. A walk along the salt pans towards the west is particularly beautiful.

Thus, Xwejni Bay is less suitable for a classic sandy beach day, but especially for those who want to combine swimming, snorkeling, and one of Gozo's most extraordinary coastal landscapes.
