Wied il-Ghasri

Wied il-Għasri is a spectacular, narrow gorge in northern Gozo that leads directly into the sea between high cliffs. The clear water and secluded location make the small pebble beach a special place for swimming and snorkeling.

Wied il-Ghasri

Wied il-Għasri is one of the most extraordinary bathing spots on Gozo. A narrow, fjord-like gorge winds through the rocky landscape and opens up to the Mediterranean at the end. Nestled between the steep cliffs is a small pebble beach with clear, often intensely blue water.

You can descend into the gorge via a staircase. Wied il-Għasri is particularly interesting for swimming and snorkeling, as you can swim between the high cliffs towards the open sea. Due to its secluded location, the place feels much more original than many classic beaches on Gozo.

There is very little tourist infrastructure on site. That’s exactly what makes it appealing: Wied il-Għasri is especially suitable for visitors seeking nature, tranquility, and unusual coastal landscapes. Water shoes are recommended due to the rocky ground.

In case of strong winds or higher waves, you should be cautious when swimming, as the narrow gorge leads directly to the open sea.
